Introduction - IT

I am seeking a challenging position with a progressive company where my skills and experience can be utilized to our mutual benefit.

I designed this web site back in 2011 to illustrate my capabilities to design unique sites with interactivity that share my information and spark an interest for the user and prospective employers.

I have been a "Computer Geek" since the early 80's, starting on a Texas Instruments TI99/4A, then a Lanier Word Processor Model 103, graduated to Main Frame running AS400 and eventually bought my first Custom PC; An Intel 386 CPU running MS DOS. When Windows 3.1 came out in the early 90's I was hooked. I began working in the field in 1996 as a Sales Consultant for Budget Computers in the Denver Tech Center.

I have a background in Digital and Analog Electronics and was able to teach myself to build, upgrade and repair computers and after leaving Budget Computers (BCI Group) worked for ASI as a Computer Tech and promoted to Corporate Sales until moving back to Illinois.

I began designing Web Sites in 2001 and received Certifications in Web Design, Web Master, Dreamweaver Developer and Flash Design in 2003 while doing freelance work under a Sole Proprietership "DNK Consulting"

In 2006 I began an exciting career in Web Engineering for VisionFriendly.com. I was hired as a Web Designer and held the following positions outlined in my Career History tab and ending as the General Manager.

General Manager - VisionFriendly.com, Yorkville, IL - [2/2006 - 8/2013]

General Manager / Human Resources Director – Assisted the Owner/CEO with the day to day operations of the company. Researched, implemented and managed the current Health Insurance program, responsible for accounts receivables, interviewed prospective candidates for employment and managed the SEO department.

School District 129 Web Site Manager – Managed the Web site for School District 129, including managing 3 employees responsible for content and design updates, database redesign and increased dynamic functionality.

Letter of Introduction - Health Care

My first career was in Health Care, I spent 10 years in the Health Care industry; as a counselor, client advocate, grant writer, program administrator, admissions and marketing director and as a psychiatric emergency response clinician.

I grew up as part of the 70's counter culture, rebelling, dropping out of school, etc., etc. I watched as my grades went from A's to B's to Incompletes, unable to understand why, thinking I had everything under control. I found myself at age 25 unable to get a decent job or live a responsible life. I was able to turn my life around and discovered I was the problem, I also found I had a gift, a gift to reach out and connect with troubled individuals and their families in a way no one had ever connected with me.

I began working in the Mental Health field in 1986 following my own path towards a more fulfilling life. I first went to work for the Cenikor Foundation, a 2-3 year therapeutic community. I went back to school and worked towards a CAC (Certified Addictions Counselor as well as a degree in Non Profit Administration. While at Cenikor, I wrote numerous grant proposals, was a non attorney rep. for clients in Social Security Hearings, was their Finance Manager and also managed a small case load of residents. I also worked part time for numerous short term treatment programs, was ask to join 2 coalitions and was on the board of directors for another non-profit treatment facility.

Working in Health Care was the most rewarding time in my life professionally but financial and family matters steered me to my 2nd career, as a Corporate Sales Consultant for a computer firm. My daughter is grown and my needs and attitude have brought me to a place in my life where I would relish the opportunity to share my god given ability to reach out and help others.
